The Man Behind The Pen
From It to Carrie and The Shining, you're likely familiar with plenty of this iconic writer's famous works. Whether you saw the films or read the original works, Stephen King is a familiar household name that has wowed horror and thriller fans for decades. But outside of his amazing writing skills, he lives a rather interesting life, too. Today, let's uncover some interesting facts about the author himself.
1. He Writes At An Incredible Pace
Have you ever wondered how Stephen King is able to produce books at a seemingly lightning speed? Well, it's all thanks to how disciplined he is. There's no such thing as cutting corners with this esteemed writer! It's said that he supposedly aims to write around 2,000 words every day, not even taking weekends off.
2. He Hates The Shining Movie Adaptation
Despite Stanley Kubrick's take on The Shining becoming a cult classic that many movie lovers appreciate, it's said that Stephen King absolutely hated the rendition. 3. Triskaidekaphobia
For someone who writes a lot of horror and thrillers, it seems a little ironic that King himself would be afraid of one of the most stereotypical Halloween objects: the number 13! This acclaimed writer has publicly said he has triskaidekaphobia before, and we can't help but wonder what caused it.
4. It Took Him 45 Years To Write "The Answer Man"
In Stephen King's collection of stories, You Like It Darker, there was one story in particular that took much longer than you may have anticipated. It's stated that this one story took King a whopping 45 years to complete, as he started it when he was 30 and only finished it at 75.
5. He's A Massive Baseball Fan
Just because he's writing thousands of words every day doesn't mean he's always chained to his desk! Stephen King has been an avid baseball fan since he was young. He is a huge Red Sox fan, and not only has he attended numerous games and donated to local baseball stadiums, he's even coached a Little League team before!
