1. Golgo 13

Written by Takao Saito from 1968-2021 and continued on by Saito Production since then, Golgo 13 is considered the longest-running manga in the industry. And what's most impressive is, it's still in publication! With 218 volumes written as of now, you'll have a lot of catching up to do if you're starting fresh. But hey, if you're looking for a lot of reading material, this can't be beat.

2. Dokaben

You might be wondering how a baseball manga could possibly last 205 volumes, but Dokaben manages to do it. Written by Shinji Mizushima since its first chapter release back in 1972, the series finally reached its final chapter in 2018. Given that it wrapped up seven years ago but is still the second-longest manga series around really says something.

3. KochiKame: Tokyo Beat Cops

Centered around the hilarious and wacky adventures of a Tokyo cop, KochiKame: Tokyo Beat Cops, continued to entertain readers for 40 years between 1976 when it was first published, and 2016 when the final chapter closed out the series. The manga was written by Osamu Akimoto and contained a whopping 201 volumes.

4. Minami No Teiō

With 185 volumes and the manga still being published, Minami No Teiō is definitely up there in terms of the longest-running manga. Written by Dai Tennōji and Rikiya Gō, this beloved manga first began way back in 1992. Clearly, its longevity demonstrates that the series is timeless and continues to attract readers of all ages.

5. Cooking Papa

Last but not least, Cooking Papa is another ongoing series that has hit 175 volumes since its 1985 debut. Written by Tochi Ueyama, the manga is about exactly what the title suggests: a businessman who knows how to cook well. We all know how attractive food in media can be!
