The 5 Greatest Stan Lee Comic Book Characters

All in a Day’s Work

Stan Lee brought us a lot of irreplaceable characters before his passing. We’ve had years—decades, even—of heroes, superpowers, and intense plots that sucked us straight into the pages. It was hard to narrow down our favorites, but we did manage to choose a few!

1. Iron Man

Iron Man is one of the coolest superheroes around. On the surface, he seems like your everyday pretty boy billionaire with way too much time on his hands, but underneath the bravado, he’s a wisecracking genius who charmed his way into our hearts from page one.

2. Spider-Man

You just aren’t getting more wholesome than Spider-Man. Poor Peter Parker was just your average student before getting bitten by a spider and using his powers for good, fighting crime, and paying the price at every turn. He’s strong, he’s resilient, and most of all, he’s the sort of kind-hearted hero we all need.

3. Daredevil

Even before the resurgence of this character, Daredevil was an awesome hero. He might literally be blind, but that never stopped him from opening his eyes to justice—on the streets and in the courtroom.

4. Magneto

Okay, we know Magneto isn’t technically a “hero,” but he’s still one of the greatest characters Lee ever created. As a Holocaust survivor (a storyline that wasn’t introduced until the 80s), he’s far more complex than people give him credit for. And at the end of the day, we know why he feels the way he does.

5. Doctor Strange

A selfless surgeon who’s also an awesome wizard? Yeah, we’ll take that! Doctor Strange not only has a heart of gold, but he also masterfully weaves a number of exciting powers, all of which allow him to manipulate reality and travel through realms.
