1. Emotional Vulnerability
It’s not always easy to get out your most vulnerable thoughts. Sometimes, we don’t even give them the time of day, which makes them bubble to the surface even harder. With a diary, you can scribble down everything you’re thinking without judgment.
2. Private Thoughts
Is your marriage at a breaking point? Do you find parenthood far too difficult? Do you need to say something to someone you don’t speak with anymore? These are all good reasons to get a journal. Trust us, you’ll feel better getting it all out.
3. They Encourage Creativity
Journals don’t have to be simple pen and paper. A lot of people turn their diaries into junk journals or a scrapbook of sorts. Some even include their own illustrations. It doesn’t matter what you write, so long as you channel that spark!
4. They’re an Open Book—Literally
Journals truly are whatever you want them to be. If you haven’t seen them yet, some people online literally have different diaries for different topics. They’re a means of documenting your life, however you want to. It’s part of what makes it so personal.
5. It’s Cathartic
Even if you don’t get your deepest thoughts on paper, a little time with your journal is time well spent. It’s nice to power down for the day, tuck away your phone, and get in touch with your feelings.
